Thief 4

So they've decided not to use Stephen Russell to voice Garrett. They say they don't like the way it syncs up with the stunt guy doing the motion capture.  When did video games become so much about realism and not about fun? Why so much emphasis on graphics? Seems a case of because we can, we should.

They say the voice doesn't match up with the motion. This is a first-person game, with the main character wearing a mask. When exactly do you really see yourself talking? And why are you talking when you're doing stunts anyway?  They say it ruins immersion.  What ruins immersion more than changing a character's voice? Russell defined Garret.  He also defined many other characters in the same game world. He's hugely talented and able to pull this off I've no doubt.

It's a mistake to let him go.  Made by those who are out of touch with what makes a game fun. Too concerned with being the next, new, cool thing, imitating today's game when they were created imitating Thief.  I can hardly wait for this phase of gaming to be over.  It's been a long time since Looking Glass died.

Skyrim

I have no idea why this game got the good ratings it did.

The people of Skyrim are unfailingly rude and mean-spirited. Just about every single one, young and old, male and female.  Just listening to them makes me want to KILL NEARLY EVERYONE I MEET.

They need to hire more than 3 voice-actors.  Hearing the same voice come from 15 different characters is distracting.   And some of the lines and tones are downright creepy and/or inappropriate.

Did someone turn up the sun's rays and toast everyone?  Or is this the home of the leather-face people? Ugly, ugly, ugly.  How can they make such a beautiful environment and then screw up people that badly?
